Four left-wing parties and public forums have announced boycotting the July National Charter signing ceremony to be held next Friday.
Bangladesh Samajtantrik Dal (Marxist) Central Executive Forum Coordinator Masud Rana told reporters after an emergency meeting called by the National Consensus Commission at the Foreign Service Academy in the capital on Wednesday (October 15).
Masud Rana said, 'We will boycott the five party charter signing ceremony.'
The parties are – Bangladesh Samajtantrik Dal (BASD), Bangladesh Samajtantrik Dal (Marxist), Communist Party of Bangladesh, Bangladesh Jasad and Ganoforum.
Masud Rana told reporters that the discussion of the principles of the constitution is not included in this objective. Ideological-political issues should be kept out of discussion. Because, consensus among the parties is not possible in this regard. So during the discussion in this part four groups including us walked out. Apart from this, two parties have given 'Notes of Dissent'.
He said, we had expected that the charter would be written excluding this issue. But we did not see the reflection of that in the final draft. The founding history of our nation is also misrepresented in the Charter.
Meanwhile, Gano Forum has warned that Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman's declaration of independence telegram of March 26, 1971 and Mujibnagar government's declaration of independence of April 10, 1971 will be included in the July charter – they will not sign unless this is confirmed.
