A separate Secretariat for the Supreme Court 'Supreme Court Secretariat' has been promulgated by the Ordinance to ensure complete independence of the judiciary. As a result, the judicial department is completely separated from the executive department.

Earlier on November 20, the Advisory Council of the Interim Government gave final approval to the draft Supreme Court Secretariat Ordinance-2025 regarding the establishment of a separate secretariat for the Supreme Court.

Incidentally, a proposal regarding the formation of a separate judicial secretariat from the Bangladesh Supreme Court was sent to the Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs on October 27, 2024 on the initiative of the Chief Justice to ensure the institutional independence of the judiciary. In this proposal, in order to fulfill the purpose of Article 109 of the Constitution of the People's Republic of Bangladesh, a draft of an ordinance for the purpose of establishing an independent secretariat for the proper supervision and control of the subordinate courts and tribunals by the High Court Division, the proposed secretariat's organogram and the possible reform of the Rules of Business and Allocation of Business are sent.

By issuing the Supreme Court Secretariat Ordinance-2025, with the positive support of the interim government, the dream of establishing a separate secretariat for the judiciary has become a reality.
