Finally ending the speculations, the auction of the 12th season of BPL is being held. In the meantime, Chittagong Royals have added opener Mohammad Naeem Sheikh to the team for 1 crore 10 lakhs. He was in 'A' category. The opener's price has been the most talked about so far at an auction held at a hotel in the capital on Sunday.
However, Rangpur Riders have taken the other cricketer of 'A' category, T20 captain of Bangladesh Liton Das in the team for only 7 million rupees. The base price for local players in the 'A' category was Tk 50 lakh. In this category, Naeem and Liton—both of whom took part in the auction—were directly signed by teams ahead of the others.
Meanwhile, experienced Mushfiqur Rahim and Mahmudullah Riyad remained unsold in the first call of 'B' category.
On the other hand, Tawheed Hriday has been hired by Rangpur Riders for Tk 92 lakh. And Shamim Hossain and Mohammad Saifuddin joined the team for Tk 56 lakh and Tk 68 lakh respectively.
