Barcelona were hoping to bounce back from a disappointing loss against Chelsea in the Champions League. To that end, the Catalans left the field with a 3-1 goal victory against Alaves. Barca won the fourth match in a row in La Liga.
The win moves the Spanish giants two points clear of leaders Real Madrid. Xabi Alonso's side have an extra game in hand though.
Barca fell behind in the very first minute of the match thanks to Pablo Ibanez's goal. There is also concern about them. But Barca responded quickly. They equalized with Lamine Yamal's goal in the 8th minute. Then Dani Olmo's great finish in the 26th minute turned the game around.
Barcelona, in their second match at the Camp Nou since the renovations, had to wait until second-half added time to secure the three points. Olmo also scored the third goal in 90+3 minutes.
Meanwhile, Manchester City finally got a comfortable win in the English Premier League. Manchester City beat Leeds 3-2 in a crowded fight.
Despite falling behind 2-0 in the first half, Leeds equalized. By doing so, they unexpectedly raised the possibility of getting three points. But Phil Foden, who scored for City in the first minute of the match, made the difference in the last minute. He made the score 3-2. With 10 minutes added to the match, Foden found the net with a low shot. Guardiola scored the second goal for City in the 25th minute.
The win brought relief to the City camp after back-to-back defeats to Newcastle and Bayer Leverkusen last week.
